How it all started
2003 - FuturLink was founded in 2003 in Barcelona, Spain by a group of 4 professionals that identified the opportunity presented by the short-range radio technologies in mobile phones. When the company was founded, there were no more than 10 models of mobile phones using Bluetooth technology.
2004 - The introduction of Bluetooth technology in a multitude of mobile phones made these young visionary professionals initiate research and development to manufacture a product that would allow interaction with customers in business environments using Proximity Marketing technologies.
2005 - FuturLink could take its first steps towards business developments with some financial support provided by public and private venture capital as CIDEM, NEOTEC, La Caixa and bcnHighGrowth.
In early 2005, FuturLink introduced its first generation of Access Points called Wilico.
2006 - In August, 2006 FuturLink presented its first worldwide patent.
2007 - The company launched its new product that incorporated LCD screens in Access Points. In the same year FuturLink received a second round of investment from La Caixa and High Growth.
At the end of 2007, FuturLink innovates one more time launching an interactive touch screen for sending multimedia content to mobile phone users
2008 - FuturLink launched its Web to Mobile platform, Wimob, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
By this year, the company had already applied for 4 patents. It was a year of new developments; a project to develop NFC systems for payment transactions in public transportation was carried out. Furthermore FuturLink was selected as one of the finalists in the NFC Forum Global Competition, 2008.
Its international presence spread to over 65 countries and FuturLink signed its first partnership contract for exclusive distribution of its products.
2009 - For ambitious growth and international expansion, FuturLink decided to reinvent its strategy to accelerate its expansion and consolidate its presence over the world.
FuturLink announced a plan to develop a network of international branches and partners with VARs (Value Added Resellers) for international expansion and consolidation enabling to position itself as a manufacturer of technology that thinks globally and acts locally.
June of 2009 has seen another generation of FuturLink's products that incorporate the name of FuturLink to strengthen its product values and enhance the value of the "FuturLink" brand globally.
2010 - The company incorporated innovative products positioning the company as an Intelligent Marketing Technology provider, far beyond the portfolio up to 2009 based on Mobile Proximity Marketing.
The new products are related to very diverse sectors on interactive digital marketing, for the implementation of innovative cross-platform campaigns.
The new portfolio consists on: FuturLink InOut, FuturLink dotmobi, FuturLink MobileApp, FuturLink Digital Signage.
